One of the oldest known European grapes, Muskateller probably originated in Greece. Gelber, or yellow, Muskateller is especially suited to the sandy löss soils of the Wachau, yielding a lovely aperitif wine. Representing just 1% of Austrian plantings, Muskateller’s low demands on the soil have led to it’s increasing popularity in recent years.
